She-who-shall-not-be-named’s name isn’t Jane, by the way. This was before my father revealed her to us, so he told us that her name was Jane Doe. Being barely eleven at the time, I believed him and thought that that was legitimately her name.

He used to have visitation with us on Wednesday nights and we’d stay at his house. On this particular Wednesday he didn’t bother with Ben and I because he was far too occupied talking on the phone with his girlfriend. He was extremely nasty to me, denying my every request to talk to my mother.
I wanted to come home desperately, I was crying hysterically, and he wouldn’t let me leave or communicate with my mother. Instead, he’d hold the phone up so that his girlfriend could hear me cry and then he’d start laughing uncontrollably.
‘Oh yeah,’ he said with a chuckle, ’she’s always crying for her mommy.’
I felt trapped, betrayed, petrified.
That’s why I was scared, Yoon.

Oh. Is he still like that? That’s some sick behavior laughing at his daughter crying if you ask me.
